CARE TIPS

Bringing home a new puppy can be an exciting time for your family and friends alike. Please remember that the process can be over-stimulating for a puppy. Provide a calm and safe environment and don't allow friends to bring over their pets until your puppy has acclimated to its new home and has been fully vaccinated.

Grooming

Bulldogs will need their wrinkles cleaned at minimum twice a week. Some bulldogs with heavy wrinkles may need daily wrinkle care. Bulldogs are short haired. They do shed but mostly in the spring and fall. They may need occasional brushing. We recommend not bathing them more than once a month so their skin doesn't get too dry. Check ears, nose, paw pads, nails, and teeth frequently and provide care as needed.

Exercise

Bulldogs require much less exercise than many other breeds but they still need some! Shorter periods of exercise are recommended and breaks when needed. A short walk and a game of playing fetch a few times a day. Always allow them access to water and keep a close eye on their breathing while exercising. Never attach a lead to a collar, only to a well fitted harness. Do not exercise your Bulldog in extreme temperatures.

Dog Training.jpg

Training

Bulldogs are intelligent and capable but can be quite stubborn. Always train with patience and consistency and don't underestimate what they are willing to do for a treat. Positive reinforcement goes a long way with Bulldogs and makes training a fun experience for you and your dog. Bulldogs are sensitive creatures and typically will not respond well to loud or heavy handed direction.

Lifestyle

We have a ton of fun with our Bulldogs year round. They love to spend summer evenings with us on the beach and go barreling through snow drifts in the winter but there are some important things to consider. Always provide fresh drinking water and shade. This is a breed that has to live in doors. Extreme high or low temperatures should be avoided when possible. Be careful around water as they are not good swimmers. Life vests should be worn when needed.

Puppy Feeding.jpg

Feeding

Your will need to feed your pup 3 - 4 times a day until at least 6 months old and twice a day afterwards. Avoid raw, grain-free and boutique dog foods unless absolutely necessary and under guidance from your vet. Use the feeding chart on the back of your food bag to know how much to feed. Do not free-feed or overfeed as Bulldogs can have trouble with weight gain. Never feed table scraps and keep treats to a minimum. Store food out of reach. If your puppy eats too quickly, we recommend a slow-feed bowl.

Housebreaking

We start house training our pups by the time they start walking so when they come home they already have well established habits. Even then, due to their stubborn nature, house training can be difficult at times. Repetition and positive reinforcement is the best way to housetrain your Bulldog. Crate training your puppy can help with house breaking as well as provide a short-term safe space for your puppy when you are not able to provide direct supervision.

Bulldog Temperment.jpg

Temperament

Bulldogs are highly affectionate, outgoing, loving, loyal, friendly and easy-going by nature. They make an excellent addition to most households and families. They don't bark much but you may catch them snoring. They are great with kids and other pets. They can be stubborn and rambunctious at times and get spooked by the most random things! Given tons of love and some positive training and you will have a cherished member of your family in no time.

Health

We strive above all else to produce high-quality, happy and healthy pups. We do that by working closely with our vet, ensuring we only breed the healthiest parents, and dedicating ourselves to providing the best care to our dogs and their pups. All our pups are backed by a one-year signed heath guarantee. It is important to continue to provide your Bulldog with veterinary care and keep them up to date with vaccines and a deworming schedule.
